JANE
suzanne and i met this morning and she and the doggies are heading north!
I am in awe that the skinny English Setter that I had asked to see at the Fulton County, GA Animal Shelter has traveled so far in one short week. I mean that not just in terms of the miles that he has journeyed, but in the way his life has been transformed in such a brief period of time because of the efforts of so many wonderful and dedicated people.
When the Rescue Coordinator at Fulton County called me to tell me that Elmo's "owner" had shown up to reclaim him, I was sick. I knew that anyone who had allowed this wonderful creature to become so thin and weak didn't deserve a second chance with him. Thankfully, the man didn't think Elmo was worth the $120 reclaim fee. When I arrived at the Shelter to pick him up and take him to Heather's Vet, one of the worker's told me that the man who came to get Elmo was "no good."
As many of you noted , Elmo never sat down during our 45 minute ride to the Vet. And he was completely transfixed by a large Parrot at the Vet's office. But, I never heard a noise from Elmo. My hope is that like my rescued Springer Molly, who didn't bark for the first two years she was with me, Elmo will find his voice and use it as Molly does now to announce to the world that he is safe and secure in a loving home that let's him sing out as nature intended!
I knew that this wonderful boy deserved a chance for a decent life. Each one of you gave him that chance!....Thank you doesn't begin to describe my gratitude to all of you.

It was an honor to help transport Elmo today---given his condition the fact that he trusted us really touched my heart---I brought my Rose with me,as I do on all transports--she is a very loving soul and took one look at Elmo wagged her tail and gave that look "Hop on in and let's get going"--and he did--it took him a bit to get comfy but he laid down on Rose's cushion on the backseat and rested--Ms Rose meanwhile was riding shotgun with me and would from time to time check on him---I know he will blossom into the boy he was always meant to be with lots of love---when he wagged his tail and said goodbye to Rose and me I just knew he was going to a great new life---Thank you everyone for letting me be a part of Elmo's "new life"--this is one little boy that truly deserves the best---Janis and Rose
ohh...that is heartbreaking...it is just amazing how these rescues can still give love even though they have not received it...sweet setter boy...he is going to forget his horrid "lif" up until his rescue thanks to be loved by his new foster parents and fur siblings.
thank you everyone for making a new life possible for Elmo!

AND Finally,........
Lisa says she is in love. She said tears ran down her face as she petted him. She said he has so much love to give and was never given any. Those days are all over now Elmo boy!!!
URGENT PLEA FROM ESRA
Hello everyone!
We have a special request here for a little fella we have named ELMO. This lIttle guy was found soaked to the bone, from the recent storms and foraging for food in a dumpster. He is absolutely emaciated , but he still wants to nuzzle you and lean against you to be petted.
We think he is about 4 or 5 years old.He is very frightened in the Shelter and had to be dragged back into the cage!
This nice lady from Springer Rescue here in Georgia, sent us this information and once we saw his picture, we had to do something.
So in a scramble for a foster home we have an approved home all ready and waiting, to bring sweet little Elmo in from the storm.
We will have a picture to show you at the end of this notice. Even if you can't help, check him out, he is so sweet!
